A new Release record can be created by data entry

Creating a new Release record by data entry

Creating a new Release record is pretty similar to other objects you have already created. You can create a new Release record by following the next steps

To create a new Release record by data entry:

  1. Open the Releases tab.
  2. Locate and click the New Release button at the top center of the page, below the colored line. The New Release:  creation wizard opens.
  3. Enter a subject in the free-form text field, Subject.
  4. (Optional) Enter a description.
  5. (Optional) Lookup the name of the customer contact.
  6. (Optional) Select values for Release Type, Impact, and Urgency.
  7. (Optional) Use the Preparation Tasks tab to define a preparation task. Click Add. Select a subject for the task, provide a comment, lookup the name of a contact or a lead, and specify a due date. Repeat as needed for other preparation tasks.
  8. (Optional) Open the Release Tasks tab to define a release task. Click Add. Select a subject for the task, provide a comment, lookup the name of a contact or a lead, and specify a due date. Repeat as needed for other release tasks.
  9. (Optional) Open the Rollback Tasks tab to define a rollback task. Click Add. Select a subject for the task, provide a comment, lookup the name of a contact or a lead, and specify a due date. Repeat as needed for other rollback tasks.
  10. (Optional) Open the Test Plan tab. Click Add. Select a subject for the task, provide a comment, lookup the name of the Contact or Lead, and specify a due date. Repeat as needed for other test plan tasks.
  11. (Optional) Use the Associated CIs tab to associate any CIs with the change record. Search for CIs or lookup recent CIs. Select and add CIs.
  12. (Optional) Use the Related Changes tab to associate any Change with the release record. Search for Changes, Select the ones you desire and press Add Selected.
  13. Click Save. 
  1. Note that InSite has assigned a unique ID number to the new Release record.
