Configuring the Change Calendar

At this time Salesforce does not allow the creation of querying of public calendars from apex or via the API. As such configuration of the change calendar must currently be done by hand.

First, a shared calendar will need to be created.

  • Go to Setup > Customize > Activities > Public Calendars and Resources
  • Create a new calendar named "Change Calendar"
  • Once saved you will need to copy the calendar's ID from the URL of the page. As an example, with a page URL of https://na7.salesforce.com/023A00000002vtv the ID would be 023A00000002vtv.

  • Copy the calendar ID, and go to Setup > View Installed Packages and click Configure on InSite ITSM.
  • Under the Change Management tab paste the calendar ID into the Change Calendar ID field.
  • Press Save.

All change windows, and projected service outages from this point onward will now be placed on the change calendar.

Note that if you provide an invalid calendar ID change windows and PSOs will not save properly!
