Associating CIs
From InSite
CIs are configurable items such as hardware, software, and other tangible or intangible assets. They can be associated with Incidents and Changes when you create new records or when you update existing records.

Associating CIs when creating new Incident records
To associate a CI when creating a new Incident record:
- Open the New Incident page.
- Complete the required fields
- Complete as many optional fields as desired.
- Open the Associate CIs pane at the bottom of the page.
- Search for the CI that you want to associated with the Incident. Insite displays a list of search results.
- Single-click the name of the CI that you want to associate to highlight it.
- Click Add Selected. The CI appears in the Selected CIs list at the bottom of the page.
- Click Save.
Associating CIs with existing Incident records
To associate a CI with an existing Incident record:
- Open the Incident Details page.
- Go to the Accordion in the top right corner of the page and open the Edit Incident Relationships panel.
- Click Manage Incident Relationships. The Edit Incident Relationships panel refreshes.
- On the Related CIs tab, search for the CI that you want to add. You can search on Name, Description, or Type. [John: Where do I find the possible values for these? Are they infinite? Can I search on Status? It didn't work when I tried it. RS]
- From your search results, select the CI that you want to ad and click Add Selected. The CI appears in the list of Selected CIs.
- Click Save.
Associating CIs when creating new Change records
To associate a CI when creating a new Change record:
- Open the New Change page.
- Complete the required fields
- Complete as many optional fields as desired.
- Open the Associate CIs tab at the bottom of the page.
- Search or Browse for the CI that you want to associated with the Change. Insite displays a list of search results.
- Mark the check box for the CI that you want to associate with the Change.
- Click Add Selected. The CI appears in the Selected CIs list at the bottom of the page.
- Click Save.
Associating CIs with existing Change records
To associate a CI with an existing Change record:
- Open the Change Details page.
- Click the Change Relationships link at the top of the page. You are taken to the Change Relationships panel.
- Click New Change Relationship. The New Change Relationship page opens.
- Click the Lookup icon beside the CI field.
- Search for the CI that you want to associate. You can search by Name, Status, Record Type, or InSite Department. [John: True? We have no data in the CMDB to test this. How do I determine which fields I can search on? How do I know their possible values? RS]
- Select the CI from the list of search results. The New Change Relationship page re-opens and displays the CI that you associated.
- Click Save.
Associating CIs when creating new Release records
To associate a CI when creating a new Release record:
- Open the New Release page.
- Complete the required fields
- Complete as many optional fields as desired.
- Open the Associated CIs tab at the bottom of the page.
- Search or Browse for the CI that you want to associated with the Release. Insite displays a list of search results.
- Mark the check box for the CI that you want to associate with the Release.
- Click Add Selected. The CI appears in the Selected CIs list at the bottom of the page.
- Click Save.
Associating CIs with existing Release records
To associate a CI with an existing Release record:
- Open the Release Details page.
- Go to the Release Relationships tab at the top of the page and Click on the Manage Release Relationships button
- The Manage Release Relationships dialog opens.
- Click the Lookup icon beside the CI field.
- Search for the CI that you want to associate. You can search by Name.
- Check the CI from the list of search results and Click on Add Selected.
- Click Save.
